Recently, the approval projects in 2017 for special projects of water resources high-effective development and utilization, the national key development projects, have been completed publicity. “Development and Demonstration of Membrane Process Seawater Desalination Key Techniques and Equipment Orienting Large-scale Application” declared by HWC has been approved officially by Ministry of Science and Technology of China, and formal project task letter will be signed recently.
The project is only one approved of special seawater desalination by membrane processes technologies and application with energy saving and consumption lowering in highly effective water resource development and utilization in 2017, with state appropriation reaching to￥ 19.85 million. It is the largest sci-tech project subsidized from Ministry of Science and Technology of China in the direction of seawater desalination from beginning of the 13
th Five Year Plan to the present.
Since the declaration guide was issued in October 2016, through active planning and elaborate organization , HWC has founded a project team led personally by Mr. Zheng Genjiang, the HWC’s director, united with Nanjing University of Technology, Jiangsu University, Zhejiang University etc. domestically well-known institutes of research and development, and two enterprises of demonstration and application. After whole the project experienced multi reviews, the project led by HWC showed the best candidate, and won final victory by means of its strength in competition with two project teams respectively organized by the Institute of Seawater Desalination and Multipurpose Utilization SOA (Tianjin) and Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited of Power Construction Corporation of China, fully embodying HWC’s overall ability of scientific researches, and representing the recognition of our country and this industry to HWC in the field of seawater desalination.
The project takes supporting and leading progresses of science and technology in seawater desalination as an aim, closely surrounds the national strategic needs of market development to develop new technologies of membrane process seawater desalination for lowering energy consumption, and prepare high performance seawater high pressure pump, energy recovery devices etc. key equipment and RO membranes etc. core products with independent intellectual property rights, realizing engineering application of key techniques, equipment and products, and establish membrane process seawater desalination demonstration project with ＞200,000 m3/d and single unit demonstration device with water output ≥3 0,000 m3/d, localization rate of device and engineering reaching to ≥95%, quantity of chemicals use lowering by 40%, water- making cost and energy consumption lowering by 10% on year-on - year basis. After completed, the project will overall enhance the sci-tech innovation level of seawater desalination and industrial development ability in our country, providing important supports for guaranteeing water resource safety, expanding blue economic space and constructing “A Silk Belt and A Road”.
