On September 19, The Topic of “Demonstration Engineering for Large Scale Membrane Process Seawater Desalination System Integration and Municipal Water Supply” started.
The topic belongs to the key project of the national support plan of science and technology during 12thFive-year Plan led and organized by the Center-----the project of “Research and demonstration” of large scale RO seawater desalination key techniques and equipment. The topic aims to develop the engineering and technology of domestic RO seawater desalination which are suitable for municipal water supply with 50,000 m3/d, establish demonstration engineering and realize demonstration and application of domestic key equipment in large-scale seawater desalination engineering,, effectively lower investment and water-making cost of seawater desalination equipment, and overall heighten the core competition force of seawater desalination technology. The topic is undertaken by the Center, and is the largest scientific research project undertaken by the Center at present.
At the invitation of the topic starting meeting, Yan Jun, the vice director of Department of Social Development, the Ministry of Science and Technology, Zhang Shujun, the director of 21stCentury Agenda Center, the Ministry of Science and Technology, Qian Yuhong, the director of Office of Social Development, Zhejiang provincial Department of Science and Technology, and Lu Changrong, the Department of Science and Technology, China Chemical industry Group, etc leaders, and the personnel from topic undertaking units and partial related units participated in the meeting.
The director Yan delivered an important speech. First he affirmed the important breakthrough in respects of developments of seawater desalination techniques and industries by the Center during “11thFive-year Plan”, and the leading role in which the Center played for the progress in seawater desalination techniques and the cultivation of new strategic industries in China; then, he pointed out that the topic is one of the first batch of support projects of science and technology which preferentially starts by Ministry of Science and Technology of our country during “12thFive- Year Plan”; its successful implementation will greatly promote the progress in domestic techniques of seawater desalination of our country; all the topic’s participants should highly pay attention to it. He also proposed some guiding opinions and suggestions for the problems which are liable to appear in implementing the topic.
