The Center’s Sci-tech Achievements Wining Award from Zhejiang Province and Hangzhou City

The sci-tech fruit “Development of Corollary Energy Recovery Device at 1000 ton/d Scale” developed by the Center was awarded the Second Prize of Zhejiang Province Progress in Science and Technology, meanwhile, the sci-tech fruit also won the First Award of Hangzhou Municipal Progress in Science and Technology.

In order to raise the competitive force of seawater desalination industry in our country, and lower equipment investment and water-making energy consumption of seawater desalination project, the Center has first carried out the researches and development of highly effective energy recovery device in China since 2000.

In the research, the technology of cartridge valve control-type energy recovery device was proposed firstly. Its principle is: in order to adopt plug structure and the coupling technique of multi pressure exchange pipes, the high pressure concentrated seawater is utilized  to directly drive the piston in pressure exchange pipe for boosting the feed seawater and realizing the residual pressure of concentrated seawater for seawater desalination to be recovered and re-used effectively.

Meanwhile,the Center has developed by itself hydraulic one-way valve, hydraulic cartridge valve, DSP7 MVR, pressure exchange pipe etc. key hydraulic components matched with working conditions of energy recovery device to ensure the realization of energy recovery from energy recovery devices of large and middle scales.

Through researches, the Center successfully developed cartridge valve control-type energy recovery device equipped for 1000 ton/d seawater desalination device. Upon test, the device has smaller transient pressure of device commutation and smaller flow fluctuation; treating quantity of single set device loading (concentrated seawater) is 65 m3/h; the energy recovery efficiency reaches to 97.7%, and noise is only 78 db, being at advanced level internationally in the same kind products.

The fruit first put into commercial application for Zhoushan Municipal 1000 ton/d seawater desalination project in August 2010. In comparison with the imported energy recovery device from US, the water-making energy consumption of seawater desalination system lowered by 4~6%, marking that our country has turned into one of few countries in the world which have grasped energy recovery techniques for seawater desalination. 

Up to now, 20-odd national patents have been declared and 10-odd papers have been published for the research fruit. The domestic energy recovery devices have been applied commercially in multi seawater desalination projects and chemical water treatment projects at Dongtou, Daishan, Putuo etc. places of Zhejiang Province. The development and application of domestic energy recovery devices has forced the practical sale price of imported energy recovery devices lowering by about 20%. It possesses important significance for dismantling monopolies of large foreign companies to the markets of energy recovery devices in our country, and enhancing competitiveness of seawater desalination industries in our country.
